A larger university is now seeking an experienced Financial Controller with a particular focus on EU-funded activities.
The university's finance function plays a central role in the organization and is responsible for professional financial management, monitoring, and administration. Here, you will have the opportunity to work closely with researchers, managers, and leadership in a knowledge-intensive and developing environment.
About the assignment
The assignment is located at the university's central finance department, within a function that works with operational controlling. The role is a fixed-term consultancy position full-time and is expected to last from 2026-02-01 to 2027-03-31.
Responsibilities
As a Financial Controller, you will:
- Have overall coordination responsibility for financial matters related to EU-funded projects
- Act as an advisor to economists, managers, researchers, and support functions on issues related to EU finance and regulations
- Ensure accurate accounting according to internal guidelines and external requirements from the EU and other funders
- Interpret and analyze conditions in contracts and funding decisions
- Coordinate budget, forecast, and year-end work within the area
- Contribute to the development and streamlining of financial processes and routines
Approximately 30% of the assignment also includes other qualified financial work, such as ongoing monitoring, budgeting, and year-end closing within the unit.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in finance, vocational training in finance, or equivalent
- At least 5 years of experience in qualified financial work, such as accounting, budgeting, and year-end closing
- Experience in project accounting for EU-funded activities
- Good knowledge of EU regulations and the ability to set requirements, inform, and coordinate around these
- Experience working in financial and administrative support systems
- Very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
It is meritorious if you also have:
- Experience in financial work within a university or college
- Experience with financial systems such as Raindance and/or Hypergene
